CURRENT ISSUES UNDER CONSIDERATION BY THE GENERAL COUNSEL OF THE NATIONAL LABOR RELATIONS BOARD

Ronald Meisburg, General Counsel of the National Labor Relations Board, will be the guest speaker at the September 11, 2006 dinner meeting of the WNY Chapter of the Labor and Employment Relations Association. On August 3, 2006, Mr. Meisburg was confirmed by the U.S. Senate to serve as General Counsel for a four-year term. Previously, he was serving under a recess appointment, after being nominated to fill the position by President Bush. Mr. Meisburg also previously served as a member of the Board in 2004.

As General Counsel, Mr. Meisburg has overall responsibility for enforcing the provisions of the National Labor Relations Act in processing representation petitions and investigating and prosecuting unfair labor practice charges filed in Regional Offices throughout the country.
