CURRENT ISSUES UNDER CONSIDERATION BY
THE GENERAL COUNSEL OF THE NATIONAL LABOR RELATIONS BOARD
Ronald Meisburg, General
Counsel of the National Labor Relations Board, will be the guest speaker
at the September 11, 2006 dinner meeting of the WNY Chapter of the Labor
and Employment Relations Association. On August 3, 2006, Mr. Meisburg was
confirmed by the U.S. Senate to serve as General Counsel for a four-year
term. Previously, he was serving under a recess appointment, after being
nominated to fill the position by President Bush. Mr. Meisburg also
previously served as a member of the Board in 2004.
As General Counsel, Mr.
Meisburg has
overall responsibility for enforcing the provisions of the National Labor
Relations Act in processing representation petitions and investigating and
prosecuting unfair labor practice charges filed in Regional Offices
throughout the country. Mr. Meisburg will discuss current issues pending
in his office which have wide-spread application to private sector labor
relations and collective bargaining.
