NOVEMBER IRRA MEETING
Wednesday, November 5, 2003
THE IMPACT OF A CONTROL BOARD ON
LABOR RELATIONS IN THE CITY OF BUFFALO
Since mid-July of this year, the Buffalo
Fiscal Stability Authority has been organizing itself and has begun the
arduous process of reviewing Buffalo’s precarious fiscal situation. Of
major concern is how to deal with the city’s unions. We are indeed
fortunate to have Adam Kaufman, Regional Director of PERB, moderate a
panel to discuss this issue. Members of the panel are: Robert Meegan,
President, Buffalo Police Benevolent Association, Philip Rumore,
President, Buffalo Teachers Federation, Leonard Matarese, Commissioner of
Human Resources, City of Buffalo, the Honorable Paul A. Tokasz, Majority
Leader of the NYS Assembly, and Richard Tobe, Vice President, Community
Foundation for Greater Buffalo and designated spokesman for the Control
Board.
