We are pleased to announce that William E. Grande will be honored
as our Citizen of the Year on Tuesday, May 16, 2006. As many
of you know, Bill is a labor attorney who, since 1986, has devoted his
practice to representing labor unions and employees in various areas of
labor and employment law. Bill also serves as a Mediator in the Equal
Employment Opportunity Commission's mediation program.
In addition, Bill has
been an adjunct faculty member since 1988 for Cornell University ILR
Extension, teaching labor law courses and conducting workshops on a
variety of topics including drafting contract language and sexual
harassment. Since 2001, Bill has taught a course on collective bargaining
and labor relations at the University of Buffalo.
Bill is a Past President
of the LERA of WNY, a member of the Association's Executive Board and
maintains the Association's web site and listserv. In 1996-1997, Bill also
served as an Editor of the Association's Newsletter, the Common Ground.
Currently he serves as
Secretary and a Member of the Board of Directors of the Monsignor Healy
Foundation, Inc., which is dedicated to providing scholarships to
individuals studying for a career in the field of labor relations. In
addition he belongs to the Labor Law Committees of the Erie County and New
York State Bar Associations and the AFL-CIO Lawyers Coordinating
Committee.
